Overview
A Powder Coater prepares surfaces, applies dry powder coating using spray guns, cures parts in an oven, and ensures a durable, quality finish, following strict safety protocols, cleaning equipment, and maintaining records, often working with conveyors and various metals in manufacturing settings.
Base pay range$18.00/hr - $22.00/hr
Responsibilities- Preparation:
Cleaning, sanding, masking, and treating metal surfaces for proper adhesion - Coating Application:
Selecting colors, loading powder, and spraying evenly with spray guns (manual or automatic) - Curing:
Moving parts into and out of high temperature curing ovens - Quality Control:
Inspecting finished products for defects, coverage, and adherence to standards, troubleshooting issues - Equipment & Area Maintenance:
Cleaning spray guns, booths, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace - Documentation:
Keeping records of coated parts, colors, and processes - Safety:
Adhering to all safety procedures, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and proper disposal of materials
- Attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications
- Understanding materials, processes, and basic equipment maintenance
- Physical strength to move parts and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes hot environment
