Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
Our client has an established, fast-growing spindle rebuild operation within a larger industrial organization. They rebuild machine-tool spindles from a wide range of manufacturers and models for their own customer base and for outside customers. The business started as a small service operation and has grown into a dedicated division with corporate investment behind it. Leadership sees spindle rebuild as a major growth opportunity, and volume is expected to more than double over the next few years, with a move to a larger facility planned.
The culture is easygoing, collaborative, and close-knit. People get the resources and autonomy to do their jobs without micromanagement, as long as performance stays strong.
The team is adding an experienced spindle rebuild technician to strengthen its technical bench and free the department manager to focus more on management and growth. You will handle spindle rebuilds from crate to shipment as part of a small, tight team.
Responsibilities- Own spindle rebuild jobs from start to finish: receiving, inspection, disassembly, solvent cleaning, fitting new parts, assembly, final testing, and repackaging
- Inspect, measure, and evaluate components using precision metrology tools to confirm tolerances and fitment
- Work hands-on in solvent tanks and handle the full repair process, not just clean assembly work
- Manage your own workload and time while maintaining quality and efficiency
- Support teammates on expedited or especially large jobs
- Complete job documentation and communicate through email and basic computer systems
- Provide day-to-day guidance to the team when the manager is unavailable
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with complex assemblies
- Experience with precision metrology, including micrometers, indicators, precise measurements, tolerances, and component fitment
- Ability to manage a rebuild independently from start to finish
- Independent, organized, and efficient, with strong ownership of quality
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude, able to work well in a small group
Direct spindle rebuild experience is ideal, but candidates with equivalent complex-assembly and precision-repair backgrounds will be considered. Relevant backgrounds include machine-tool repair, performance engine or transmission rebuilding, aircraft or helicopter maintenance, military maintenance, and other capital-equipment work.
