Our Charge Nurse position has the unique opportunity to contribute to a harmonious work environment by providing patient care while supporting our physician practice at GI Associates. Our position maintains and manages our GI Practice’s operations in a strong team environment and offers the highest quality of care to both patients, family members, and community. Our Charge Nurse position is an integral part of the foundation at GI Associates with patients and family members looking to you for their choice of the highest quality care in GI.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Responsible for maintaining the flow of the current daily schedule
- Responsible for keeping rooms turn around to accommodate the daily schedule
- Readjust staff hours/work assignments to accommodate the current daily schedule, during situations when a coworker has called in for their scheduled hours
- Redirect staff assignments to accommodate changes in the daily schedule
- Helps with the assessment and monitoring of the patient pre, intra and post procedure
- Responds to any emergency situation as per protocols
- Helps troubleshoot any problems with equipment
- Helps with any issues that might arise from patients, staff, physicians and any other customers in the ASC area
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of care delivered in the ASC
- Knowledgeable of all job duties performed in the ASC
- Promotes an environment that is patient and employee friendly
- Communicates any changes in the schedule to the appropriate employee
- Maintains high level of confidentiality pertaining to employees and patients to promote their right to privacy
- Communicates to the Manager of the Endoscopy Center or the Director of Clinical Services any patient or employee issues
- Maintains own professional growth through continuing education
- Maintains acceptable attendance levels, meeting dress code requirements, and working within the guidelines of the employee’s handbook
- Follows the Endoscopy Center policies and procedures
- Promotes teamwork and cooperation to all employees
- Ability to communicate effectively with patient, family members, physicians, coworkers and outside customers
- Maintains a safe work environment
- Flexible to meet the needs of the department
- Completion accredited RN program
- Current RN licensure for the State of Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (ability to obtain upon hire)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required (ability to obtain upon hire)
- Two (2) years medical surgical experience for RN
- Previous gastroenterology experience preferred
- One (1) year leadership experience
- Patient-care first approach with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations with compassion and professionalism.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, co-workers, and outside customers
- Willingness and ability to travel to other GI Associates locations as needed to support operational needs
- Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and stoop throughout entire shift to accomplish tasks
- Able to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Able to work through interruptions, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Able to work under minimal supervision; responds to changing priorities and role needs.
- Frequently uses a computer for typing and EMR documentation; requires accurate and efficient data entry abilities
- Frequently uses the telephone to contact patients for appointment scheduling, follow-up care, test results, and other clinical communications
