Job Overview

Endres Manufacturing is seeking a Steel Estimator to prepare complete and accurate estimates by evaluating bid specifications, requirements, and performing detailed material take‑offs. The role involves collaborating closely with Project Managers, Detailing, and Purchasing departments to ensure bids are thorough, competitive, and aligned with project needs. The position is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, enjoys problem‑solving, and can manage multiple bids in a fast‑paced environment.

• Interpret bid requirements, blueprints, fabrication drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate estimates.
• Perform material take‑offs including labor needs, buy‑out items, and connection materials (plates, angles, welds, bolts, stiffeners, etc.).
• Evaluate erection‑related factors such as site access, crane limitations, and sequencing when preparing estimates.
• Prepare organized scope directives and request quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to compile competitive pricing.
• Maintain consistent communication with subs, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Manage multiple open bids simultaneously, prioritizing workload and adapting to changes late in the bidding process.
• Ensure accuracy through double‑checking calculations and quantities, using proven systems and habits.
• Communicate estimates clearly to clients and project managers, highlighting assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
• Perform additional estimating‑related projects and other duties as assigned.

• Experience with Fab Suite / Tekla EPM / Bluebeam.
• Preferred – Proven estimating experience in structural steel fabrication and erection.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Comfort with complex materials and custom fabrication requirements.
• Excellent math skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong communication skills for working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Time‑management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or at least 1 year of proven experience in steel estimating or fabrication.
