What the unit is really likeThis is more of a high-acuity Med/Surg or stepdown unit than a traditional ICU. The rural hospital has a 20-bed unit with an average daily census of 12–18 patients.
You should be comfortable with:
- Higher-acuity medical and surgical patients.
- Patients requiring drips and closer monitoring.
- Variable workloads, with nurse-to-patient ratios occasionally reaching 1:7.
- Adapting to a smaller hospital environment and floating when needed.
The posting excludes travelers whose home location or current facility is within 50 miles of Facility.
The manager will call, with the CSM texting MRG according to the posting. Previous travel is preferred, and candidates should be resilient and comfortable with changing assignments.
