Job Description: Ongoing Child Protective Services / Community Response Case Manager – Social Worker Grade 8/9 | $27.22 – $34.60/hour
Waupaca County Department of Human Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Child Protective Services team. This position provides professional social work services to children and families, with a unique Community Response component focused on voluntary outreach and early support.
The Community Response role works with families who have identified service needs and are willing to engage in services, often prioritizing families with children under the age of five. The ideal candidate is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and committed to supporting family goals through respectful and compassionate engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Provide services that ensure the safety, permanence, and well‑being of children
- Assess family strengths and needs; develop case plans, safety plans, and permanency plans
- Prepare court reports, provide testimony, and collaborate with legal partners when required
- Work closely with law enforcement, schools, internal departments, and community providers
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete case documentation
- Participate in an after‑hours on‑call rotation for child welfare and youth justice
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field
- Experience in child protective services, juvenile justice, or case management preferred but not required
- Wisconsin Social Work Certification required, or eligibility for a Temporary Certificate (must obtain certification within required time frames)
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed care and Wisconsin Children’s Code (Chapter 48) preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records
- Valid transportation for on‑site responsibilities
