Based in Waupun, WI
PURPOSE/SUMMARYProviding technical and tactical support to the Waupun Operations Team to achieve best-in-class EHS strategies. Acts as a bridge between the Global EHS team and manufacturing plants, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations and best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for working safely, adhering to facility policies, and monitoring the work environment to identify and communicate potential environmental, health or safety concerns.
- Maintain the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Program as per management systems and specifications.
- Oversee federal, state and local environmental regulatory requirements and comply with corporate policies.
- Formulate general EHS policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA rules and regulations.
- Inspect facilities to detect hazards and recommend corrective or preventative measures, using COI projects.
- Maintain compliance with monitoring, measurements and legal reporting requirements.
- Lead EH&S risk assessments for all processes and equipment, identifying environmental aspects and impacts.
- Coordinate new hire, emergency response, hazardous communications, blood borne pathogens, First aid/CPR training, and other required programs.
- Follow up on safety, health and environmental issues for all shifts, including work orders, near‑miss and spill reports, and corrective actions.
- Review and update lockout procedures and conduct annual lockout performance audits.
- Maintain the Hearing Conservation Program, including annual audiograms and noise surveys.
- Conduct airborne and metal fluid testing for the facility.
- Manage emergency response, hazard communications, blood borne pathogens, First aid/CPR, and emergency preparedness plans, including drills.
- Review confined spaces and update programs as required.
- Recertify powered industrial truck drivers for employees and contractors.
- Respond to all mandates issued by Global EHS Manager and corporate safety mandates.
- Participate in all safety conference calls and required follow‑ups.
- Achieve corporate EHS targets and establish internal goals.
- Provide subcontractor and contractor environmental, health and safety training and assessments.
- Conduct machine assessments for new releases, repairs, rebuilds, and annual equipment reviews, including layout and process changes.
- Order and maintain first‑aid kits, eyewash stations, fire blankets and related supplies.
- Alert managers and employees to environmental and safety hazards such as toxic fumes, chemicals, hazardous substances, or unsafe equipment.
- Provide ergonomic solutions for facility employees.
- Maintain and document EHS management system programs and procedures.
- Compile data and analyze EHS requirements to support budget preparation and funding justification.
- Consult with vendors to determine equipment specifications and evaluate products for environmental, safety and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, models to obtain data.
- Prepare graphs, charts and reports for data analysis.
- Conduct FM‑tips for environmental, safety and health incidents, verifying corrective actions.
- Maintain OSHA recordkeeping for 300 logs and server environmental data in the Global EHS Reporting Portal.
- Participate in external and internal audits, completing corrective actions from findings.
- Apply 5S principles to support workplace organization and safety.
- Attend daily management metrics meetings.
- Perform any other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Four (4) year degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with emphasis in EHS program management and employee training.
- Clear communication and writing skills in English.
- Proficiency conveying information at multiple organization levels.
- Ability to travel 0‑10% of the time to designated areas.
- Strong team‑building skills.
- Strong organizational skills, managing multiple projects to completion.
- Cross‑functional EHS discipline knowledge.
- Proficiency in software solutions.
- Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
- Managerial courage in managing varied interests.
- Leadership of cross‑functional process improvement teams.
- Professional certification preferred (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in local languages preferred.
