Overview

Administrative Assistant II role at UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Provides administrative and logistical support for the UW-Madison Physician Assistant Program to assist prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and guests. Serves as the first point of contact at the UW Stevens Point - Wausau campus, triaging inquiries in person, by phone, and by email. Requires excellent administrative, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Identifies program needs, contributes to the development of unit workflows, schedules logistics, and secures resources for meetings, events, and interviews
  • Coordinates program components, evaluates program effectiveness, and provides recommendations for improvement
  • May supervise the day-to-day activities of one or more academic programs and resolves issues to meet unit goals
  • Uses independent judgement regarding development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation for one or more academic programs, initiatives, or events
Department

School of Medicine and Public Health, Office of Academic Affairs, Physician Assistant Program - Administrative. The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) supports SMPH by overseeing admissions programs, curricular oversight, student services, and diversity initiatives across the statewide campus. It also ensures national accreditation requirements and compliance with health system, school, campus, and legislative policies. Mission: educate health care professionals with emphasis on primary health care for diverse populations.

Compensation

Required Qualifications
  • At least one year of professional administrative support experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education
  • Experience working with students
  • Experience with scheduling, maintaining records, and organizing events or meetings
  • Experience using Workday
Education

High School Diploma preferred minimum.
