Electrical Engineer II

Location: Wausau, WI |
Schedule: Full-time, on-site

An established manufacturer of commercial food service equipment, part of a larger multi-site organization, is growing its engineering team. This Electrical Engineer II role will document and standardize existing heating and refrigeration product lines from an electrical standpoint while driving new product development, reporting to the Engineering Manager and helping shape the division's next phase of growth.

• Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems for commercial heating and/or refrigeration equipment, including heating circuits, temperature controls, wiring harnesses, sensors, and power distribution components
• Fully document the electrical systems of existing products, then analyze and standardize largely custom designs into defined models while developing new products
• Support products through the complete development lifecycle, from concept and prototype through validation, production release, and continuous improvement
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and engineering documentation using Solid Works, AutoCAD, and PDM
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to integrate electrical and mechanical systems into manufacturable product designs
• Lead and support product validation, performance testing, reliability testing, and root cause failure analysis
• Work with Manufacturing to troubleshoot production issues, support pilot builds, improve assembly processes, and implement design improvements for manufacturability and quality
• Partner with Supply Chain and suppliers to evaluate electrical components, resolve technical issues, qualify new components, and support cost reduction initiatives
• Ensure products comply with applicable regulatory and safety requirements including UL, NSF, CSA, ETL, and DOE standards
• Provide technical support to Quality, Tech Service, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to resolve field issues and improve product performance
• Travel occasionally to suppliers, manufacturing partners, customers, or industry events as required

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience designing electrical systems for products (not production equipment)
• Experience supporting products through the complete product development lifecycle, from concept through production
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for production support and continuous improvement
• Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, validation, and failure analysis

• Experience with products that are heated or refrigerated is ideal
• Experience working with regulatory certification agencies and applicable safety standards is preferred
