SummaryInstalls, maintains and/or repairs network facilities and associated apparatus from the station equipment to the line card. Performs other related duties.
General Duties- Frequent driving and moderate travel.
- Install and maintain inside wire for residential/business broadband (HSI/Video) service.
- Install networking equipment including Fiber to the Home, ONT, wireless routers, modems, gateways, DSLAMs, residential gateways, HSI, and business class routers.
- Perform cable construction and maintenance work on all network facilities, including conduit/manhole repairs, cross-connections, etc.
- Read service orders, trouble tickets, outside plant drawings, circuit diagrams, electrical schematics.
- Execute maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance on buried, aerial, and underground cable/fiber using various plant elements.
- Conduct aerial work such as pole climbing, ladder, bucket truck operations.
- Place aerial and buried plant and service drops.
- NAVIGATE the web, set up business/residential computers and demonstrate to customers.
- Support and actively promote company products and services.
- Adapt to changes in the business, technology, skills and procedures.
- Assist other departments and contractors; be self‑motivated; mentor co‑workers; complete assignments on time.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance.
- Basic keyboard and software skills.
- Must complete pole climbing certification; weight limit not exceed 275 lbs.; fully clothed and appropriate footwear.
- Must complete company-provided training and demonstrate ability to complete full installs.
- Work independently; desire for face‑to‑face customer interaction.
- Work outdoors in adverse weather, isolated or confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; CDL preferred.
- Availability for flexible scheduling, holidays, after-hours, and call‑outs.
- Meet minimum results in standard tests for this position as set by the company.
- Climb poles and ladders; frequently lift up to 75 lbs.; push, reach, bend, and stoop; manual dexterity; good balance; long standing or sitting; good color vision.
