E & I Journeyman – Stevens Point, WI
Location: Stevens Point, WI
Pay range: $42.62 - $46.33 per hour, based on experience
Job Summary: We invite passionate individuals to join our sustainability‑focused team. This role focuses on electrical and instrumentation work at one of our mills, supporting our mission to Purify and Protect, with every fiber, for a sustainable world.
Duties of the Job- Performs work consistent with the MWS process and engineering best practices.
- Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical/instrumentation systems and equipment.
- Locates, diagnoses, and repairs electrical/instrumentation malfunctions.
- Inspects and tests electrical/instrumentation equipment as required.
- Disassembles malfunctioning equipment, troubleshoots, and tests mechanisms and circuitry for defects.
- Operates programmable and distributed controls, configuring controllers for required troubleshooting.
- Assists with plan layouts, running conduit, wiring, and tubing for new installations.
- Assists with developing and carrying out preventative maintenance programs.
- Utilizes skills in a flexible environment.
- Trains apprentices and journeyman electricians as required.
- Performs general housekeeping duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Complies with all electrical/NFPA
70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
- Participate in specialized instruction/training by suppliers such as ABB, General Electric, Rockwell Automation, Honeywell, Rosemount, etc.
- Complete required instrumentation related instruction.
- Comply with company respirator policy.
- Lift 50‑70 lbs. regularly.
- Perform considerable bending, stooping, reaching, turning, and twisting.
- Climb and work in high places, e.g., 70–100 ft. elevated bridge cranes, overhead lighting, reflectors.
- Use radiation-type measurement devices.
- Operate conduit, tubing benders, threaders, hand tools.
- Use voltages up to and including 4160 V, e.g., medium‑voltage switch gear.
- Read and update blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Use CMMS for work order tracking, time entry, parts procurement.
- Configure and service process controls.
- Work independently, prioritize work, and act as a self‑starter.
- Communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
- Drive and have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Live within a reasonable commuting distance of the mill.
- Respond to call‑ins, work shift, overtime, Sundays, and holidays as required.
- Keep current with industry advancements through continuing education and skill development.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products and able to type.
- Completed a State Indentured E/I Apprenticeship Program, or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 50–70 lbs. regularly.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Flexibility, reach, and body height consistent with job responsibilities.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- No allergy to chemicals or materials used in a mill environment.
