The Special Education Assistant works with students under the supervision of certified teachers to support and service students with disabilities throughout the school day. Duties include providing academic instruction, behavioral supports, supervision, daily living and delegated nursing tasks to students with disabilities. This person will need a driver's license and be comfortable with driving young adults in the community.

The beginning rate for the special education assignment is as follows:

• With DPI Special Ed Program Aide License $18.69 (individuals in this category will be required to obtain a special education certification and may apply for reimbursement of the license fee of $100 after completing 90 days of employment)
• With DPI Teacher or Specialty License/Certification $20.72
