Position Summary:

Founded in 1970 by a behavioral health hospital and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1983, TLC is an entrepreneurial social enterprise committed to transforming lives and communities—one moment, one choice, one connection at a time. Headquartered in Pennsylvania, TLC operates across multiple states, providing K-12 alternative education, comprehensive mental and behavioral health services, coaching, counseling, and trauma-informed training. Additionally, TLC collaborates with school districts, universities, hospitals, police departments, and nonprofit organizations, offering consultation services to secure federal and state grant funding.  

This position specializes in behavior change. The function of this role is to provide direct assistance to educational staff, administrators, agency personnel and parents in the areas of behavior change and addressing challenging behaviors of students. The Behavior Specialist provides individual and group trainings, conducts and supports functional behavior assessments and positive behavior support plans, advises administrators and staff regarding best practices and regulations, works as a collaborative consultant with school and agency personnel, and provides expertise regarding behavior modification in complex cases.

The Behavior Specialist provides services and documents that are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Also, services and documents are based on best practices, research validated methods, and supported procedures and materials.  Skills & Knowledge:  
• Provide consultation to staff through observations, functional behavior assessment, behavior modification plan development, consultations, and recommendations related to the needs of individual students, utilizing best practice, research validation methodologies, and PDE endorsed practices.  
• Conduct functional behavioral assessments for students in the school, home, or community setting.  
• Create individualized positive behavioral support plans to address the target behaviors.  
• Train staff, parents, and students on implementation of the plan. Monitor treatment integrity and provide feedback when needed.  
• Develop and oversee ongoing behavior data collection and present summarized data when needed.  
• Assist staff in maintaining the level of expertise within their programs regarding the proper methods of deescalating challenging and complex behaviors presented by students.  
• Provide direct intervention support to students both proactively to teach new skills and reactively to facilitate the de-escalation of the student.  
• Provide training, staff development, and informational support in all aspects of behavior change with challenging behaviors to LEA staff, parents, students and agency personnel.  
• Maintain professional and legally compliant documentation of services and student related paperwork.  
• Stay knowledgeable in best practice and research validated practices.  
• Perform additional duties as needed and specified by supervisor

Education and Experience:

• Master’s Degree required  
• Licensed Behavior Specialist Consultant in Wisconsin required
