Key Responsibilities

As a Commercial Solar Sales Consultant at Current Electric, you will play a crucial role in driving profitable sales and guiding customers to informed decisions in the solar and renewable energy industry. The ideal salesperson will possess a wealth of knowledge about solar, industry trends, and regulations, and will perform the following tasks:

  • Tell the story of solar to a qualified audience. Introduce customers to the benefits of solar, battery, and backup solutions.
  • Pursue and generate commercial leads to develop new accounts.
  • Coordinate site visits and prepare proposals, quotes, and presentations to potential customers.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to nurture leads and see projects through to completion.
Key Sub‑Tasks
  • Follow company processes from initial contact to close of sales, ensuring consistency and professionalism throughout the sales cycle.
  • Develop an understanding of local utilities and metering systems to communicate benefits effectively.
  • Maintain diligent attention to detail in proposals and communications.
  • Utilize CRM systems such as Service Titan and Solar Graph to manage leads and track interactions.
  • Generate self‑generated leads through networking, trade, and educational events, focusing on the benefits of solar, batteries, and generators.
  • Identify and propose the correct solar/battery solution or generator backup system for each customer’s unique situation.
  • Determine facility capability for using solar or generator systems, accurately assess size and specifications needed, and communicate ROI.
  • Represent Current Electric professionally, building trust and rapport with customers.
  • Build value in our company and products to gain enthusiastic buy‑in from customers, highlighting the benefits of renewable energy solutions.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Sales experience in fast‑paced roles such as networking, fundraising, canvassing, or previous customer‑facing sales positions.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven successful sales, customer service or fundraising experience with a record of exceeding targets.
  • Adaptability: willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry changes.
  • Strong customer service skills focused on satisfaction and long‑lasting relationships.
  • Sound judgment in qualifying customers, identifying needs, aligning solutions, and guiding them to conclusions.
  • Basic industry knowledge – prior solar, battery, or generator experience is a plus; training will be provided.
  • Flexible availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
