** 0.90 / 36 / 3rd Shift (United States of America)36 hours a week. Weekend and holiday rotation.
** PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
** Provides care to sick and injured patients in pre-hospital settings.  May provide care to patients having more complex medical or trauma problems in extenuating circumstances. Possesses broad-based clinical skills including communication, mentoring, advocacy, critical thinking, accountability for self, peers and staff and assisting in maintaining a healthy work environment.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** 1.
Emergency Patient Care:  Administers life support care to sick and injured persons in pre-hospital setting as authorized and directed by a physician, and within Iowa EMS Scope of Practice guidelines.  a.
Airway/ventilation/oxygenation  b.
Assisted medications – patient’s  c.
Cardiovascular/circulation  d.
Immobilization  e.
IV initiation/maintenance/fluids  f.
Medication administration – routes  g.
Miscellaneous

Hospital Patient Care:  Provides patient care in hospital setting as authorized and directed by a physician, and within Iowa EMS Scope of Practice guidelines.  a.
Airway/ventilation/oxygenation  b.
Assisted medications – patient’s  c.
Cardiovascular/circulation  d.
Immobilization  e.
IV initiation/maintenance/fluids  f.
Medication administration – routes  g.
Assists with 12 lead EKG recordings.  h.
Miscellaneous

Respiratory Therapy Care:  Provides patient care in the Respiratory Therapy department as outlined by the Respiratory Therapy department's policies and procedures.  All procedures must be done on order of a physician or physician designee.  a.
Administers bronchodilator medications via hand held nebulizer.  b.
Assists respiratory therapy personnel as needed.

Performs routine preventative maintenance on all ambulance equipment and vehicles, including the completion of daily vehicle checks.
5.
Maintains department living quarters, performing cleaning duties daily
6.
Completes all reports and documentation in a timely manner.
7.
Assists within the department as requested:  a.
With administrative duties.  b.
Serves on departmental committees as assigned by Manager.
8.
Promotes and maintains a positive working relationship, both intra- and inter-departmentally.
** MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
** 1. Education, Experience, and Traininga. Must be a graduate of an accredited Paramedic program and possess valid Iowa Paramedic certification; OR meet the requirements to be an RN Exempt Paramedic as specified by the State of Iowa Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services.b. Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record.c. Previous experience as a Paramedic preferred.d. Must have thorough knowledge of emergency care equipment, vehicle operation and maintenance, and advanced Paramedic procedures.e. Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system.

Job specific systems are also required.f. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Physical Requirements a. Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift.b. Standing– Approximately 50% of shift.c. Walking – Approximately 50% of shift.d. Lifting – Approximately 50 pounds. Must use, and require others to use, when in hospital and/or pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.e. Twisting – Infrequent.f. Bending – Moderate.g. Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift.
