Title: Student Services Specialist III, Dickson & Humphreys County Campus
Position SummaryThis position represents the college at college fairs and other recruitment events to potential students, their families, secondary schools and their respective officials, post-secondary institutions and their respective officials and the community ponsible for building relationships with prospective Nashville State Community College students, to include students interested in dual enrollment.
Essential Job Functions / ResponsibilitiesThis position will serve two extended campuses:
Dickson Campus and Humphreys County Campus. Provide student-centered service and advising to prospective students and their families regarding the college, academic offerings, admission procedures and financial aid options. This includes assisting applicants through the application, major selection and financial aid process. Serves as the point of contact, coordinate, prepare and facilitate student services events for current students. Develop, and coordinate activities related to student on-boarding communications and events for prospective and new students.
Collaborate to develop, refine, deliver and evaluate orientation for new students, including the development of new recruitment programs for transfer and non-traditional students. Manage ongoing effective and strategic communication with prospective students and applicants via letters, telephone calls, personal visits, electronic and social networking mediums, etc. regarding college information, course programs, resources, career options and the enrollment process. Represent Dickson and Humphreys County Campuses when participating in recruitment events on and off campus, such as high school fairs, college fairs, campus tours, open houses, and other events.
Coordinate assigned activities with other college programs, departments and external entities, such as student life activities. Provide regular reports on contacts to prospective students, student applicants, school visits, college fairs and campus tours as requested. Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating creative approaches to increase awareness about Nashville State to prospective student audiences for the purpose of increasing enrollment and college completion.
Work closely with the Dual Enrollment Director and high school counselors to provide information to prospective dual enrollment students, and assist with processing admissions, grant and registration paperwork. Serve on college committees as assigned. Oversee student workers as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two (2) years’ experience working with students
- Two (2) years’ customer service experience
- Proficient computer skills
- Master’s degree
- Career advising experience
- Prior marketing experience
- Bilingual, preferably Spanish and/or Arabic
- Experience with Ellucian products, particularly Banner
Ability to use available technology for data collection, analysis, and outreach for recruitment, admission, financial aid and enrollment of students. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a varied community. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of college recruitment, career counseling, admissions and/or financial aid processes. Critical thinking skills, and the ability to analyze data.
Record keeping and reporting skills. Ability to work some weekend and evening hours.

Rate of Pay: $45,727.50 - $54,873.00 depending on experience
