Position Overview
The Youth Activities Counselor at The Club at Longview is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising family‑friendly youth programs and club events. The role includes assisting with event set‑up, ensuring safe and engaging activity spaces, and providing a welcoming atmosphere for younger members.
Responsibilities- Greet members and guests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Respond to member questions by providing correct information and answering the telephone.
- Assist with set‑up, decorations, and safety checks prior to events.
- Host and engage children and families in activities such as pool events, camps, and holiday celebrations.
- Assist parents in signing children in and out and checking identification.
- Maintain knowledge of club standards, policies, and regulations to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Ensure awareness of all children’s allergies and special needs.
- Supervise children, apply good judgment, and adhere to all rules regarding younger members.
- Assist with handling kids’ meals and meal service spaces.
- Communicate effectively and report any unforeseen circumstances to immediate supervisors.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and secure locking of children’s playroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned by managers.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Must possess CPR and First Aid certification (certification can be obtained through the club).
- One year of childcare experience required.
- Knowledge of age‑appropriate activities and enthusiasm for working with all age groups.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with members, guests, and employees.
- Strong verbal presentation and ability to gain the attention and cooperation of young members.
- Good judgment, emotional stability, and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Requires ability to lift up to 30 pounds safely.
- Continuous walking, standing, bending, stooping, pulling, and repetitive actions.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods.
- Clear communication of information and ideas.
- Rapid evaluation and selection among alternative courses of action.
- Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Effective listening, understanding, and clarification of concerns raised by members, guests, and team members.
- Indoor/outdoor setting, busy and noisy environment.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat/humidity or cool/cold).
- Schedule includes evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
The Club at Longview opened in 2003 on a 1,000 acre estate that blends golf, resort, and heritage. The club’s classic architecture and natural preserves make it a destination for guests seeking a classic Southern experience.
