This is a full‑time position. The primary responsibility is to take excellent care of our customers by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop.
Responsibilities include preparing, processing, packaging, and stocking products according to Fresh Foods Standards; providing customer service, cleaning work areas, unloading stock, and reloading salvage products; assisting any customer or potential customer; and handling customer complaints by directing them to the manager‑on‑duty. The role also involves baking, decorating cakes and other bakery items, operating equipment, and ensuring food safety and sanitation in compliance with Harris Teeter policies.
Additional duties:
• Deliver a professional image through appropriate dress, grooming, and cleanliness.
• Be reliable and punctual, reporting for work on time and notifying management of absences or lateness at least two hours in advance.
• Operate ovens, proof boxes, cooling racks, and other baking equipment; adjust parameters to meet production schedules.
• Prepare and package products, including weighing, pricing, dating, and wrapping according to standards.
• Communicate in English with customers and associates regarding requests, promotions, and product location.
• Answer telephones in a professional manner and write orders.
• Follow Fresh Products, product preparation, merchandising, rotation, dating and markdown standards, and food safety policy (RO‑37).
• Keep shelves stocked and displays covered, process close‑dated and damaged products, and display samples.
• Clean and sanitize prep rooms, coolers, counters, and food contact surfaces; maintain health and safety standards.
• Assist teammates with unloading trucks, checking deliveries, taking inventory, and restocking displays.
• Maintain proper records and inventory paperwork, assist in price changes, and report safety hazards and accidents.
• Follow safety regulations and handle chemicals in accordance with the Hazard Communication Program Manual.
• Adapt to shifting priorities, perform multiple tasks, and balance direction with initiative.
• Support fellow associates and create a trustworthy, respectful, and integrity‑based work environment.
Required skills and qualifications:
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and willingness to undergo required training.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple English correspondence.
• Basic math skills for adding and subtracting two‑digit numbers, using money and weight units.

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands, lift up to 30 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds), and reach between 6 and 72 inches.
