Overview
The Speech and Language Pathology Department is widely recognized for its excellent programs dealing with adult communication disorders resulting from a brain injury, voice problems, swallowing disorders or oral motor dysfunction. We also offer lymphedema services at this location.
Scope of WorkThe Speech-Language Pathologist is an independent health care professional who provides individualized patient care that assesses and treats speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders in children and adults per physician referral. The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible to evaluate referred patients, establish patient and family centered goals and develop and execute treatment plans to promote or maximize independence in the discharged setting.
The staff speech language pathologist also participates in performance improvement and educational opportunities that promote the growth and development of the department and profession.

A. Education / Training:
- Master’s Degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), ASHA.
B.
Work Experience:
- Experience in adult/children neurological speech and language disorders, evaluation and treatment, including aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders.
- Experience with head and neck cancer, tracheostomies, cognition, TBI, dementia, and modified barium swallow studies.
