Patient Attendant – Corewell Health
Job Summary: This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication throughout the hospital as assigned.
Essential Functions- Transport patients safely, timely, and efficiently; assist with lifting patients on and off beds and moving patients throughout the hospital.
- Recognize patient stress or other issues during transport and seek assistance immediately.
- Monitor O2, IVs, catheters, etc. and alert appropriate personnel with problems 100% of the time.
- Inform supervisor/dispatcher of all delays within 10 minutes.
- Maintain transport equipment clean, safe, and orderly; return all equipment to the appropriate location.
- Complete all departmental records, perform proper handoff before removing patient from department/unit; check patient and complete two patient identifiers prior to transportation.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Understand and demonstrate safe lifting and transport techniques.
- Practice universal precautions as appropriate.
- Demonstrate communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interactions with patients, families, clinical licensed and non‑licensed staff, physicians, and management.
- Follow HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
- Possibly transport specimens, oxygen, stretchers, and other items as assigned.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk‑mitigating measures; complete all position and unit safety related competencies on a timely basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
$15.70 – $18.57 per hour, based on experience.
QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross upon hire.
- Demonstrated courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interactions with patients, families, clinical licensed and non‑licensed staff, physicians, and management.
Preferred:
- Prior transport experience.
