Job Summary
Provide hands‑on leadership, training and responsibility for employees and the work unit. Responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the assigned work unit and for communicating unit performance, timekeeping, and opportunities to management. May include oversight of food production, recipe development, and quality control. Attentive to menu details and special/restricted diets as applicable to the assigned area. Oversees sanitation of equipment and work area.
Demonstrates the Beaumont standards in providing excellent patient‑ and family‑centered care and services.
- Coordinate shift activities, including producing daily staffing rosters, adjusting staff assignments as needed, and monitoring EPIC trackers for room cleans, equipment requests, and patient transports.
- Oversee production of high‑quality products following standardized recipes; provide input for menu development and identify/address variances per established standards.
- Prioritize and direct activities of employees in the assigned area; prepare schedule, make daily assignments, and coordinate with leadership to optimize staffing. Orient, train, and coach staff; apply corporate and department policies consistently and equitably; provide input into staff evaluation and discipline.
- Work with staff to promote teamwork, address concerns, and mediate disputes with management assistance. Utilize hospital resources as necessary.
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards in the work area; identify and address variances and take remedial action as needed. Uphold and enforce policies and procedures, including safety, sanitation, and compliance.
- Ensure that the assigned work area and employees are compliant with hospital standards and ready for survey/inspection at all times.
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk‑mitigating measures where appropriate, completing all position‑ and unit‑safety related competencies and requirements timely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.
- 3 years of relevant experience as a Nutrition Services Leader in culinary/food production areas.
- CRT‑Serv Safe Handler – NRA or CRT‑Serv Safe Manager – NRA within 90 days of hire.
Preferred
- Associate’s Degree in food service related area.
- 2 years of relevant experience in food service for all patient and retail food service areas outside of culinary/food production.
- 1 year of relevant experience in management for all patient and retail food service areas outside of culinary/food production.
- 1 year of relevant experience with therapeutic diets for patient services areas.
