QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; pre-school experience preferred. A desire to work with young children; strong interest in improving self and community; self-motivated with ability to work without direct supervision; writing skills; valid driver’s license with safe driving record or state pass drug screen and background check.
Preferred QualificationsPre-School experience.
Position Details (This is a sampling of duties & responsibilities & does not include all other duties that may be assigned.)Work under the supervision of designated center staff person in fulfilling assigned duties as required on a daily basis. Work in partnership with the teacher and center team members to encourage families to become engaged with school readiness activities and all phases of parent volunteer participation as requested or assigned.
Substitute Teacher Assistant/Infant Toddler EducatorJob Duties:
Be able to carry out planned classroom activities in center under the supervision of designated staff. Will assist education staff in observing and recording children’s progress in various skills for teacher’s assessment of children’s progress and lesson planning on a daily basis as needed. All information will be kept confidential. Use positive guidance techniques to direct behavior, developing children’s confidence and self-esteem.
Accept and promote diversity in the classroom.
Job Duties:
Hold valid Food Handlers Permit. Prepare meals (breakfast, lunch and/or supplement) in accordance with CACFP /
USDA guidelines. Has knowledge of USDA meal patterns. Orders food and supplies as needed to serve meals according
to planned menus. Ensures that center kitchen, food storage areas, garbage disposal and equipment are kept clean and
adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested. If unable to make assigned shift, will call Area Supervisor one hour before
shift starts. Responsible for data entry as assigned.
* Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc.’s Head Start/Early Head Start program covers Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln and Mason counties. Center Substitutes are not required to work all counties. Employees determine their area of availability.
