Mortgage Processor

Position Overview

The Mortgage Processor is responsible for the end-to-end collection, verification, and entry of all documentation required to render a credit decision. You will act as a key liaison between applicants, consultants, and underwriters to ensure high credit quality and timely loan closings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an assigned pipeline of loans, ensuring all contingency and closing dates are met.
  • Maintain accurate "General Comments" logs for all loan activity.
  • Organize and prepare the entire loan file for final submission to the Underwriter.
  • Order and review appraisals, flood certifications, and credit scores.
  • Request and verify essential documentation, including VOEs, VODs, and VOMs.
  • Review received information for accuracy and update the Loan Origination System (LOS) as required.
  • Prepare and mail all required regulatory disclosures.
Analysis & Decision Support
  • Score applications via automated underwriting systems and analyze decision results.
  • Collaborate with Home Loan Consultants to find viable solutions for complex "deals" while maintaining high credit standards.
Communication & Service
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for applicants, Home Loan Consultants, and Assistants.
  • Provide customers with regular status updates throughout the application lifecycle.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of direct experience in residential mortgage processing.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA underwriting guidelines.

    Skills:

    Proficient with automated underwriting systems and basic PC applications.
  • Soft Skills:
    * Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong customer service and pipeline management abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential materials with high ethical standards.
  • Capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
