Job Description

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, and works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may even be asked to perform more specialized tasks.

Accountabilities
  • Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  • Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Guides patients through the healthcare system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Takes vital signs: typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.
  • Assists with examinations: works closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory samples: instructs patients on how to collect samples or draws blood.
  • Exhibits excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to a fast‑paced environment, and maintains utmost professionalism at all times. Holds strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Greets patients: welcomes patients to the facility and schedules appointments for patients.
  • Maintains medical records: records patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
  • Clean patient rooms: sanitizes and reorganizes patient rooms between visits.
  • Preps examination rooms: ensures the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
  • OR precertification agreement must be signed if expired or receiving certification within 60 days of employment.
Preferred
  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
  • 2+ years of experience in an outpatient, ambulatory setting.
  • Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to a fast‑paced environment, and maintains utmost professionalism at all times.
  • BLS certification upon hire.
  • Experience with EPIC or similar EMR system.
  • Ability to work within computer systems.
