The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) position is a development‑focused role crafted to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, this hands‑on program teaches the skills and knowledge needed to operate a store, drive results, and develop and lead a team. We seek a dynamic individual who embodies GNC’s "Live Well" philosophy—living strong, living long, and living fit.

This is a full‑time hourly supervisory position. The SMIT role is a fast‑track to management and includes work assignments and training to prepare for promotion from SMIT to Store Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

• Engage with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support your path to promotion.
• Support the full shopping experience, including visual merchandising, operational elements, sales initiatives, and customer relationships such as MYGNC Rewards.
• Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping sales associates realize their potential.
• Build strong teams, demonstrate leadership and managerial skills—giving feedback, recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
• Open, close, and operate the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory count, and deposits according to GNC procedures.
• Attend community fairs, conferences, meetings, and other public gatherings to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives.

Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion. After 90 days, performance will be assessed to determine eligibility for promotion to Store Manager, considering performance, availability of openings, and willingness to accept a promotion at any location in the designated market.

• Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
• Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting below waist and above shoulders.
• Frequent repetitive hand‑to‑finger motions and reaching with hands and arms.
• Frequently lift up to twenty pounds, occasionally up to forty pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, reach, and bend.
• Work in temperatures ranging from 50° to 85°—especially in the stock room areas.
• Use of a computer up to 60% of the day.

• SMITs of mall and strip‑center stores must work at least two nights during the week until closing, one weekend night, and one other night.
• Strip‑center SMITs must also work a full shift on Saturdays.
• Mall SMITs are expected to work peak business days—including weekends (Saturday & Sunday).
• SMITs are expected to work a minimum of one full Sunday per month.
• SMITs of downtown stores must also work during the lunch hour of 11 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday, and one night per week until closing if the store is open in the evening. Downtown SMITs are not required to work Saturdays.
• SMITs are expected to work all major U.S. holidays when the store is open.
