Membership Specialist (MS)
The Membership Specialist at UFC GYM will provide a welcoming, informative, and entertaining experience for all members and guests. The role requires driving potential members into the gym, delivering industry‑leading customer service, and exceeding personal revenue targets through internal and external prospecting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Lead Generation & Appointment Booking
External marketing, promotions, and prospecting: daily off‑site promotions, distributing passes, building relationships with local merchants, and branding events to inform the community. Internal marketing: collecting leads at enrollment and from current members through referral tables. Book membership appointments via phone and meet or exceed monthly appointment and guest goals. - Guest Touring, Membership Presentations, & Personal Production
Ensure 100% of guests receive a Fitness Tour and aim to enroll half of guests (50% closing) and 25% enrolling in Personal Training. Use the approved presentation, involve a manager before closing, and meet Personal Sales Room financial goals (NMS, POS PT, EFT). Minimum expectations: 30 NMUs and 6 PT units each month after probation. - Customer Service
Follow up with enrolled members, maintain a clean facility, and retain members. If cancellation is requested, try to convince the member; if not, a manager must sign off. - Miscellaneous
Sales schedule: set a month in advance, work weekends and holidays. Requests for days off are written. Mandatory meetings: monthly All Team Meeting and daily Production Meetings.
Membership Specialist uniform includes a UFC Gym Black Polo, long dress slacks (Black, Blue or Khaki) or jeans (Blue or Black) in good condition. Dress shoes or casual dress shoes in good condition. No athletic shoes, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, or headwear. Black jackets may be worn.
TimekeepingRecord time worked using the company check‑in system. Punch in and out for lunch within 5 hours; no off‑the‑clock work. Missed punches require an adjustment form submitted to management.
Organization RelationshipsThe Membership Specialist interacts with club staff—including Operations, Fitness Departments, and the Membership Team—communicates with members, guests, and community vendors, and supports club sales. There are no direct reports.
Required Qualifications- In‑depth knowledge of sales practices and techniques.
- General understanding of the fitness industry.
- Computer proficiency.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Independent, self‑starter with strong organizational skills.
- Team player.
- Adherence to meal and rest break periods; clock in/out for all shift times.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of company sales training and orientation program.
- 1‑2 years of sales experience preferred.
- Physical requirements:
lift 45 lbs, typing, using a telephone and computer mouse, frequent sitting, standing, walking, and stair climbing. - Ability to demonstrate proper fitness techniques.
Base compensation may vary based on location, skills, and other relevant factors.
