Urgent Care Senior Veterinary Assistant – Urgent Vet

Urgent Vet bridges the gap between daytime general practice and emergency/overnight care, offering after‑hours care for canine and feline patients without the additional expense of emergency clinic fees. Our hospitals provide care for common urgent cases including wound management, ear infections, vomiting/diarrhea, and euthanasia. Each of our paperless clinics is designed to deliver efficient care and is equipped with cloud‑based EMR, digital X‑ray, and a full suite of IDEXX in‑house lab equipment.

Overview

We are seeking a full‑time Senior Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care, team leadership, and client service in a fast‑paced, state‑of‑the‑art urgent care clinic.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide hands‑on patient care and support for veterinarians.
  • Perform animal handling, patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring.
  • Conduct clinical skills such as phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation.
  • Assist with facility maintenance and client education.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient workflow and high quality client service.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and excellent communication skills.
  • Energetic, pet‑loving individual with a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Full‑time employee may be required to travel for on‑site training and onboarding.
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • Prior experience working with animals in a hospital setting.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Animal handling experience including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring.
  • Clinical skills: phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation.
  • Additional duties: facility maintenance and client education.
