Licensed Operator Initial Simulator Operator/Instructor 3

Location: Waynesboro, GA

Contract: 9 Months

Client: Southern Nuclear

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Simulator Operator/Instructor to support the training and qualification of licensed nuclear facility operators. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with NRC and industry standards by developing and delivering simulator-based training sessions, evaluating operator performance, and reinforcing safe, reliable plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training Development & Delivery

    • Prepare, deliver, and evaluate training sessions using nuclear plant simulators.

    • Conduct initial licensed operator training for candidates pursuing NRC licenses.

    • Ensure training materials and scenarios comply with regulatory requirements and plant-specific procedures.

  • Simulation Oversight

    • Operate full-scope nuclear simulators to replicate normal, abnormal, and emergency plant conditions.

    • Customize simulation scenarios to test operator performance and decision-making.

    • Maintain simulator readiness and coordinate with technical staff to resolve system issues.

  • Performance Evaluation

    • Assess trainee performance against NRC standards and company qualification programs.

    • Document trainee progress, provide coaching and feedback, and support exam preparation.

    • Participate in NRC examination development, administration, and validation.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Standards

    • Ensure training programs meet INPO/NRC accreditation standards.

    • Support audit and review processes for training program compliance.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for operator training.

Minimum Education & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or related technical field OR a current/past Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) Certification/License
    .

  • 10+ years of experience in licensed operator training and nuclear simulator operations.

  • Experience developing and delivering NRC-accredited training programs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • AP1000 Plant experience highly desired.

  • Strong understanding of nuclear plant operations, systems, and safety culture.

  • Proven ability to facilitate training for diverse audiences, including new hires and experienced operators.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with operations, engineering, and training staff.
