Project Engineer, Operations Manager

At Innovative Refrigeration Systems, we design, fabricate, construct, commission, and service some of the largest and most advanced industrial refrigeration systems in the country. We’re hiring a Project Engineer at our Waynesboro, VA headquarters.

This role is a launchpad into Project Management. You will manage small to medium mechanical projects, shadow a Senior Project Manager, and gain the skills to move into leading large, complex projects. If you have a couple years of project experience and are ready for accelerated growth, this is your opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from award through commissioning and punch list completion
• Partner with Senior Project Managers to learn leadership on larger programs
• Coordinate owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams while maintaining safety, budget, and schedule
• Review contracts, scopes of work, and engineering progress
• Oversee staffing, materials, and vendor relationships
• Track change orders and maintain project documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME preferred) or Construction Management
• Minimum 2 years as an Assistant PM, Project Engineer, or PM in construction or manufacturing
• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to solve problems quickly and make sound business decisions within budget
• Team-oriented with flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, or site support
• Interest and ability to travel to job sites
