Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is looking for a results-oriented Platform Engineer, ML to join our Technology Division full-time onsite in Waynesboro, VA. This position will build and maintain the machine learning infrastructure supporting our next-generation industrial energy management applications. The ideal candidate has a background in software engineering and a strong interest in supporting applications that leverage machine learning components to solve real‑world energy optimization problems.

The Platform Engineer, ML will design and support cloud-based infrastructure, databases, and APIs that enable machine learning models to be efficiently integrated into our production energy management systems. This role bridges data science, software engineering, and industrial systems to drive innovation and reliability across our technology stack.
Key Duties- Build and maintain the infrastructure required to run ML models integrated with our energy management application.
- Manage our technology stack, including relational and time-series database systems, cloud ML pipelines, and back‑end APIs.
- Develop and maintain APIs supporting model deployment and data flow between applications.
- Author and support machine learning solutions to address energy management challenges.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, mechanical engineers, and software engineers to deliver measurable, real-world results.
- Implement and monitor CI/CD pipelines for reliable model and application deployment.
- Troubleshoot networking, database, container, VM, and API issues in development and production environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience building APIs and deploying ML models to production.
- Experience managing cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar).
- Experience with CI/CD implementation and management.
- Proficiency troubleshooting system-level issues in telemetry tools such as ELK, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Occasionally may need to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g., office supplies, small equipment).
- Experience in machine learning or data science, especially in industrial on energy-related applications.
- Experience with cloud-based ML platforms such as AWS Sage Maker or Tensor Flow.
- Background in mechanical or chemical engineering, or strong understanding of thermodynamics and energy systems.
