The LYCRA Company, widely known for producing LYCRA fiber, is looking for Machine (Spinning) Operators to join their team in Waynesboro, VA. To be successful in this challenging manufacturing role, an individual must be a strong team player, demonstrate initiative, and prioritize safety, quality, and compliance.
Responsibilities- Operate spinning machines and associated equipment; manage operation of the spinning process.
- Remove full packages of yarn from spinning machines.
- Provide support for machine checks, start-up and shut down of equipment, and checking yarn quality, product release, and disposition.
- Adjust, repair, or change essential machine components as needed.
- Weigh and tie yarn; transport full buggies of product to packing area and return empty buggies to spinning area.
- Complete tasks with minimal supervision; participate in teamwork, collaboration, and adaptability to changing work environment and business needs.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
- Willing and able to work in a manufacturing plant setting.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including being fit for a respirator (which requires being clean shaven to ensure respirator seal) (strong).
- Ability to work a machine-paced continuous process that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Must pass a physical abilities test.
- The ability to sit, stand (up to 5 hours), walk (up to 4 hours), bend/stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, balance and reach at shoulder level and below shoulder level.
- Work in elevated places and in a noisy environment.
- Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; frequently push/pull up to 100 pounds; frequently carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally carry up to 20 pounds.
- See very fine thread lines and gauge depth perception.
