Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon.

Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work - and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. At the heart of who we are, Northrop Grumman is an American manufacturing company building the next generation of innovation for the United States and its allies. Our state-of-the-art Blue Ridge Advanced Manufacturing Center located in Waynesboro, VA will deliver advanced radars, communications antennas, and electronic warfare capabilities. Slated to open in 2026, we are adding hundreds of high-quality jobs in the heart of Virginia.
Together, we will work to deliver the world's most advanced technologies to protect our national security. We are looking for you to join our team as an Industrial and Material Logistics Manager. What You'll get to Do:
As the Industrial and Material Logistics Manager, you will serve as a foundational leader for our brand-new Blue Ridge Advanced Manufacturing Center. This is a high-impact opportunity to architect the production landscape of a startup-style environment backed by the resources of a global defense leader. You will be the primary architect of our Material and Logistics organization bridging the gap between high-level program strategy and the tactical pulse of the shop floor.
We are looking for a systems-thinking visionary who can take a greenfield site, establish a high-performing team and implement a world-class industrial and material logistics organization from the first work order to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Site Launch & System Architecture:
Lead the configuration and deployment of ERP and MES systems (specifically SAP S/4 HANA PEO) for the new Waynesboro site.
* Master Program Execution:
Develop and execute Top-Line Program Schedules, translating contract requirements into actionable production milestones.
* Team Building:
Recruit a diverse talent pool and cultivate an agile workforce capable of scaling with the greenfield site; develop mentorship lanes, cross-training curricula, and rapid-onboarding playbooks that ensure the team can meet changing production demands while maintaining 100 % mission readiness.
* Shop Floor Orchestration:
Oversee the strategic release of shop floor work orders, ensuring seamless synchronization between material receipts, kitting operations, and assembly.
* Shop Floor Optimization:
Analyze material throughput for various optimization scenarios, coordinating cross-functionally to ensure production throughput commitments are achieved. Examples:
Theory of Constraints (TOC), LEAN single-piece flow, progressive lines, automation cells, etc.
* Inventory & Cost Strategy:
Direct Sundry Inventory and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs; leverage Statistical Process Control (SPC) and AI-driven analytics to optimize inventory costs and maintain 100% mission readiness.
* Resource Balancing:
Develop and maintain data-driven capacity-planning models that align labor, equipment, and material availability with production demand. Deploy real-time shop-floor visual-management tools (digital boards, KPI dashboards, and visual holds) to surface bottlenecks, track throughput, and enable rapid, informed decision-making.
* Budget and Utilization Management:
Own the departmental budget, driving cost-to-target initiatives that achieve labor-utilization and overhead-expense targets. Implement variance-analysis processes,…
