American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license.

• 32-bed Medical Innovation Unit focused on new technology and innovative nursing practice
• 1:6 patient ratio
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend PM shift required
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Floating required to cover staffing needs as needed
• Staff self-schedule in rotating groups on a weekly basis
• Meditech charting system experience preferred

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with peripheral line care and PICC line management preferred for central line blood draws and blood product administration
• Respiratory care experience including chest tubes, HFNC, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care
• Medication administration experience including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Wound care/wound vac experience
• IV insulin protocol experience preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management experience preferred
• Telemetry/remote cardiac monitoring experience and Rapid Response/Code team experience

• Unit utilizes Hercules beds and emphasizes early adoption of new technology and nursing practice models
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who previously worked a permanent position at this facility within the last 24 months will not be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• RTO policy is based on number of holidays falling within the assignment: work one if one falls, one of two if two fall, two of three if three fall
• Zero-tolerance policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards
• Drug screening required during compliance and again on first day onsite
• Fit testing required, which includes shaving facial hair unless an approved medical exemption letter is provided prior to start
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
