American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 1 year of PCU experience and a valid VA or compact RN license.
Details- Work in the PCU/Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital with 255 staffed beds
- Care for acutely ill adult patients with cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and other medical conditions
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Work every other Saturday with every Sunday off
- Meditech charting system used
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy management
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration
- Experience with wound care and feeding tube management preferred
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and hemodialysis management preferred
- Coordinate direct patient care and provide patient education on the unit
- General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
- Fit testing is required and candidates must be clean-shaven, with exemptions requiring provider approval prior to starting
- Zero-tolerance THC policy in place, including no exceptions for medical marijuana cards
- Holiday coverage expected based on number of holidays falling within the assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with required PCU experience
- Candidates who previously worked a permanent position at the facility within the past 24 months are not eligible
- Permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility, and local candidates are not accepted
- Free parking available in any unrestricted space
