American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license and BLS certification.

• Work on a 22-bed Medical Surgical unit (2 East), which also serves as a Dedicated Education Unit for new graduate nurses
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Flexible contract length between 8-26 weeks
• Required to work every other weekend on a rotating self-scheduling system
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Floating required to cover staffing needs as needed
• Meditech charting system experience preferred

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills preferred: accessing/managing ports, phlebotomy, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care
• Must pass a drug screen (THC zero-tolerance policy; medical marijuana cards not accepted)
• Must complete respirator fit testing and comply with facial hair shaving policy unless a pre-approved medical exemption is obtained

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit that emphasizes preceptorship and mentoring of newly graduated nurses
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at the facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls during the assignment, expect to work it; if two, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
• On the first day, RN will complete a drug screen at Employee Health before starting their first shift the following day
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
