American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with 2+ years of experience for a 32-bed medical/surgical unit requiring a VA or compact RN license and every-other-weekend availability.

• Work on a 32-bed medical/surgical unit known as the Medical Innovation Unit, focused on adopting new technologies and nursing practice models
• Utilizes Hercules beds and other innovative equipment
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
• Flexible contract length from 8-26 weeks
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required, with one summer and one winter holiday worked
• Float required to cover staffing needs as needed
• Self-scheduling with staff assigned to rotating groups each scheduling period
• Meditech charting system preferred

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care required
• Experience with oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and oral suctioning required
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE required
• Experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medication administration required
• Telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team experience required

• Provide direct medical/surgical nursing care within an innovative, technology-forward unit
• Candidates must not have worked a permanent position for this health system within the past 24 months
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls within the assignment, expect to work it; if two, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
• Drug screen required both during compliance and again onsite on the first day
• Zero-tolerance policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards
• Fit testing is required, and candidates must be clean-shaven unless an approved medical exemption letter is provided prior to starting
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
