Shipping Utility Worker

Black Bear Talent is recruiting for Shipping Utility Workers. The Shipping Utility Worker primarily handles secondary case picking and ensures cases are placed onto conveyors for continued processing. Occasionally, the employee may assist with stacking cases in trailers or preparing inbound transfer pallets. This position involves loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the plant while following established safety and product purity practices.

The employee is also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and following procedures for all materials moved.

• Identifies, tracks, and records the number of units moved or handled using a WMS scanner and manifest.
• Monitors inventory levels and communicates shortages to appropriate personnel.
• Reports product discrepancies and damage according to established procedures.
• Performs secondary case picking and places cases onto conveyors for continued processing.
• Loads and unloads products onto or from pallets, trailers, conveyors, float boards, and racks by hand in a repetitive, fast paced environment.
• Ensures the accuracy and condition of loads.
• Installs bracing in loaded trailers to prevent shifting or product damage during transit.
• Stacks and assembles product cases into established patterns and bands bundles together as required.
• Secures product cases for transport and signals forklift operators to move loads to designated destinations.
• Attaches identifying labels to case bundles for shipment.
• Assists with stacking cases in trailers and preparing inbound transfer pallets as needed.
• Operates industrial trucks, if applicable, and scissor lifts when necessary and authorized.
• Operates and maintains radios, batteries, and scanners in good working condition.
• Positions portable conveyors to facilitate product movement.
• Makes simple adjustments or repairs, such as removing roller obstructions, replacing rollers, and realigning products in racks to facilitate movement.
• Demonstrates workplace behavior consistent with company policies and values.
• Communicates job related information to coordinate work tasks and maintain efficient operations.
• Maintains good attendance in accordance with company and department policies.
• Practices good personal hygiene and maintains a clean work area.
• Follows workplace safety procedures and demonstrates a commitment to a commitment to safety of others and products.

High School Education - Diploma

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Warehouse Management System Inventory software and WMS Scanner Order processing systems.

May be required to obtain a Powered Industrial Equipment License

This job is in a manufacturing environment, with moving conveyors that may affect people sensitive to motion.
