Overview
Animal Hospital of Waynesville is a close-knit clinic that values teaching, high-quality patient care, and customer service. We develop individualized preventive care plans and are Fear Free certified, AAHA accredited, and Feline Friendly, balancing high standards with consideration of clients’ financial capabilities.
Externship / OpportunitiesWe have a daily shift that primarily sees same-day, sick appointments, providing great opportunities to encounter emergencies. One of our DVMs is the local shelter’s veterinarian, offering chances to perform surgeries and gain behind-the-scenes shelter experience. Our equipment includes digital dental radiography, digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house CBC/Chemistry/urine analyzer, and multiple SNAP tests. The hospital is located in the Blue Ridge mountains, about a half-hour from Asheville, with local amenities within walking distance.
There are seasonal opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities, and we invite you to extern with us.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Please view stipend amounts and details about the stipend program.
