Overview
Space Suit Design Engineer role at K , Inc. Space Suit Operations Team on the xEVAS contract.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze technical products and systems using applied engineering principles, including solid and fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
- Perform engineering design evaluations.
- Procure, assemble, and test advanced prototypes to inform design decisions and demonstrate performance.
- Prepare and present designs at design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint.
- Produce other required design documentation.
- Assist in developing requirements for hardware.
- Ensure designs satisfy requirements and demonstrate performance through thorough verification and validation.
- Support production of hardware, evaluate anomalies, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform trade studies for technology development.
- Analyze data and make recommendations for improvement.
- Understand nominal and off-nominal operations for the technical system and its interactions with other systems.
- Manage multiple issues and develop integrated solutions.
- Collaborate with fabrication and manufacturing to ensure proper execution of final designs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- 5 to 10 years of related experience.
- Onsite work in Houston, Texas near Johnson Space Center (77058).
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with CAD software in design work.
- Ability to collaborate with peers, cross-functional teams, and external customers.
- Hands-on familiarity with production-grade manufacturing equipment.
- Experience designing life-critical components for use in extreme environments.
- Experience with qualification and acceptance testing.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
This position is located onsite at a customer facility.
