Position Teller at Wellby Financial

Overview

The Teller is responsible for performing member banking transactions, providing education on banking services available, and communicating banking products to members. This includes completing deposits, withdrawals, and other financial interactions while providing excellent member service to all members. The role may provide support and coverage to other branches and perform related teller duties as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Engage members as they enter the branch by welcoming and making them feel appreciated, including managing lobby traffic, checking members into the waiting queue, and scheduling/canceling appointments.
  • Identify changes in members’ financial situation and banking needs and recommend relevant solutions to enhance the member’s financial goals.
  • Recommend and assist members with convenient technology solutions including online banking and mobile applications.
  • Provide timely responses to members and other team member requests.
  • Cash checks and disburse funds after verifying signatures and sufficiency of the funds to support withdrawals.
  • Accept deposits, confirming the accuracy of transactions.
  • Prepare, verify, and issue cashiers’ checks, bank and personal money orders.
  • Enter transactions in the bank’s recordkeeping system and produce member receipts.
  • Evaluate checks to verify endorsements, dates, identification of recipients, bank names, and overall legality of the documents.
  • Balance cash drawers at the end of shifts.
  • Accept and count inventories of cash, drafts, and travelers’ checks daily.
  • Be accountable for the vault and dual-control access at the branch location.
  • Maintain a work area that ensures the safety of negotiables and confidential records.
  • Prepare monies for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.
  • Order cash supply to meet daily needs.
  • Adhere to all security policies for the branch, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Implement processes as required by the Bank Secrecy Act and Wellby policies and procedures, including completing Currency Transaction Reports, recognizing signs of unusual financial activities, and reporting as appropriate.
  • Complete all mandatory compliance testing by deadlines and implement applicable procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of Wellby’s organizational functions and general operating policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of bank security measures.
  • Knowledge and ability to detect, address, and prevent fraud.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of retail product philosophy, banking industry best practices, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of personal computer operations and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in high-level member service practices.
  • Skilled in operating computer equipment and general office machines, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Ability to recognize questionable and fraudulent transactions.
  • Ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to be trustworthy and act with integrity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to coordinate several concurrent activities simultaneously.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Team member does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Complexity & Scope of Work

  • The team member performs a variety of related tasks, mostly routine.
  • Non-routine situations or conflicts are usually referred to the supervisor for resolution.
  • Instructions may be general or specific in nature.
  • Actions are determined by established procedures and/or the Branch Manager.
  • Work is periodically reviewed for accuracy, completion, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Some tasks may require coordination, integration, or prioritization.
