The vocational nurse provides nursing care to patients in an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Coordinator. The LVN applies clinical nursing knowledge, utilizes demonstrated skills, and ensures the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. The LVN identifies priorities and makes judgments concerning basic needs of multiple patients in order to organize care.

• Provide nursing care to patients in an assigned clinical area.
• Work under the supervision of a Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Coordinator.
• Apply clinical nursing knowledge and demonstrate skills to ensure safety and comfort.
• Identify priorities and make judgments concerning patient needs.

• Education
  :
  Graduate from an approved vocational nursing program.
• Experience
  :
  • LVN I – 6 months in a clinical area.
  • LVN II – 4–8 years in a clinical area.
  • LVN III – 9+ years in a clinical area.
• License
  :
  Current and valid Texas LVN license.
• Special Skills
  :
  • Able to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population for the assigned clinical area.
  • Computer experience;
    Windows‑based computer skills; EPIC experience preferred.
  • Current BCLS certification.
