All About General Merchandise

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks.
• Engage with guests to help solve their needs when assistance is requested.
• Thank guests and express appreciation for shopping at Target.
• Execute daily tasks to achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Execute processes including changing prices, merchandising setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed.
• Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the store to resolve guest issues and improve their experience.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Work safely; comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct where possible.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking/packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while complying with applicable laws.
• All other duties based on business needs.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Ability to climb ladders
• Scan, handle and move merchandise safely, including frequently lifting up to 44 pounds
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions; roles may include Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift
