Position Summary

The Senior Account Manager maintains professional relationships with clients through exceptional customer service. Assigned a book of business primarily consisting of level‑funded and self‑funded accounts, the role requires building client trust, meeting needs and expectations, and supporting sales agents in acquiring new business and renewing existing business. Senior Account Managers advocate for clients and their employees via positive carrier relationships and continuous education.

Tasks
  • Acts as the primary contact between client, prospect, agency, and producer; represents the agency in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes, or resolving grievances.
  • Has comprehensive knowledge and execution of self‑funded accounts.
  • Handles or refers all client service requests.
  • Initiates and manages marketing of accounts beginning 120 days before renewal, gathering necessary information and submitting proposals to carriers; investigates carrier products, analyzes client data, and recommends suitable plans.
  • Reviews received proposals for accuracy and collaborates with the Producer to generate presentation materials.
  • Calculates premiums and payroll deductions, audits billing statements for accuracy on behalf of clients.
  • Generates open enrollment materials such as enrollment guides, election forms, confirmation sheets, enrollment/change forms, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Attends and presents at local enrollments/client meetings as necessary.
  • Processes necessary paperwork for carrier submission.
  • Directs smooth transitions between carriers.
  • Updates all accounts to maintain agency files when clients change carriers or renew.
  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Maintains knowledge of developments, carrier changes, and relevant Federal/State laws, and communicates this information to clients and team members.
  • Ensures client accounts are compliant and educates/advises clients on compliance requirements.
  • Identifies product opportunities for new business.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with each insurance carrier to satisfy client needs and facilitate business processing.
  • Maintains agency files accurately and processes incoming mail requests swiftly.
  • Attends required training sessions or assignments.
  • Performs other related tasks as needed.

Experience and Education
  • 5+ years of employee benefits and account management experience in insurance, with deep understanding of current employee benefits, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Experience with Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) preferred.
  • Experience with fully‑insured financial arrangements and alternate‑funding methods preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Licensing and Credentials
  • Active Life & Health License required.
  • Industry‑related designations preferred.
Systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
