Job Summary

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will work independently and in a team environment servicing and repairing diesel engines, tractors, and trailers. The position includes performing regular preventive maintenance and major/minor repairs on a delivery vehicle fleet, troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, ignition, pneumatic systems, diesel, and gas engines. You may deliver equipment or parts occasionally and move trucks, so a valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record are required.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair all types of diesel equipment, including OTR trucks, delivery trucks, pickups, and other support equipment
  • Troubleshoot, repair, prevent, and replace ignition systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, axles, suspensions, lighting systems, electrical/computer control systems, radio systems, brake systems, and air conditioning systems
  • Work off a ticket system for work orders. Input work orders, close orders, and enter parts cost on the system
  • Perform welding and fabrication on equipment as needed
  • Make emergency field repairs to trucks as needed
  • Clean and keep inventory of parts rooms; order necessary parts for repair on occasion
  • Test drive repaired trucks to verify repairs if needed
  • Apply technical standards and professional judgment in making decisions
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards
  • Ensure your safety and the safety of all others at all times
  • Work a flexible schedule
  • Abide by all company policies and procedures
  • All other duties assigned by the Garage Manager as directed
Qualifications
  • 1+ years heavy‑duty diesel and medium fleet automotive experience required, ASE certifications a plus
  • Familiar with troubleshooting and analyzing electrical/computer control systems, ABS brake system, and air conditioning systems
  • Strong background in diagnostics of Kenworth, Freightliner, International, Cummins engines, and Paccar engines
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, chassis and powertrain systems
  • Computer skills operating Windows‑based programs
  • Experience with Emdecs, Kona, Cummins Insight, and Davie 4 preferred
  • DOT inspection certificate preferred
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record required;
    Class A CDL preferred
  • Must have own tools
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication with co‑workers
  • Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills
  • Safely operate vehicles and equipment to test and troubleshoot for proper operation before and after maintenance

  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, parts, or systems
  • Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
