Are you ready to build America’s energy future?
Form Energy is a manufacturing and energy technology company revolutionizing energy storage with cost‑effective, multi‑day technology designed to keep the electric grid secure and reliable, even during extended periods of stress. By strengthening the electric system and reimagining what’s possible, we’re giving clean energy a whole new form.
In recent years,
Form Energy has earned numerous accolades, including being named by TIME as a “Best Invention,” MIT Technology Review as a “Top Climate Tech Company To Watch,” and Fast Company as “One of the Next Big Things In Tech.” We are making rapid progress on our mission of delivering energy storage for a better world and our team is growing rapidly to meet demand.
We have signed contracts with leading electric utilities across the United States, and production of our iron‑air batteries is underway at our first high‑volume manufacturing facility in West Virginia.
Form Energy is hiring a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Electrode Processing to support our electrode processing team. Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and scaling cutting‑edge electrode manufacturing processes for Form Energy’s Iron‑Air multi‑day battery. As a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Electrode Processing, you will translate novel research into efficient, high‑quality manufacturing processes. Your expertise with process scaling and rapid troubleshooting will directly impact the design and operations of the equipment that creates Form’s Gas Diffusion Cathode.
Your main focus area will be calendering, drying, and slitting. You will work side by side with the process engineering team that designs experimental trials, identifies and optimizes key process inputs, and ensures the design of the next generation equipment meets the process needs. You will also work with external suppliers to design, purchase, land, and commission equipment, owning the cycle from RFI to SAT.
After SAT, you will support the process engineering team in bringing the line to SOP readiness and facilitate smooth integration of new equipment while maximizing flexibility. This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available.
- Partner closely with our Process Engineering Team to ensure the equipment design matches process needs.
- Work with the procurement team to identify and select equipment suppliers.
- Design, FAT, commission and SAT equipment for calendering, drying, and slitting.
- Mentor, guide, and support technicians and junior process engineers on new manufacturing equipment, processes, equipment purchasing cycles, acceptance testing, and commissioning cycles.
- Be a champion for safety while scaling initial process designs to full production volume.
- 7+ years of experience with process engineering in a pilot line or fast‑paced manufacturing environment, such as NPI or scale‑up.
- Demonstrated track record of equipment purchasing, commissioning and testing and desire to roll up your sleeves and fill the gaps where necessary.
- Proficiency with statistical methods and tools for making process development decisions (using JMP, Minitab, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with calendering, drying, and slitting processes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, and experience authoring process, safety, and quality documentation for best‑in‑class practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
