Join Form Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing team as a Senior Material Flow Equipment Engineer. You will own the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of highly automated, scalable material flow systems—including AGVs, AMRs, conveyors, and ASRS—critical for high-volume electrode manufacturing of our Iron‑Air battery. This role is essential for driving operational excellence at our factory!

This role is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Relocation assistance is available.

• Own the full lifecycle of complex material flow and process equipment, from concept development and detailed engineering design through commissioning and production handover.
• Design, deploy, and specify fully automated material handling solutions (AGV, AMR, VRC, ASRS, conveyors, robotics), ensuring compliance with factory layout, safety, and ergonomic standards.
• Develop system architecture, capacity, and throughput models, utilizing Discrete Event Simulation (DES) tools like Flex Sim to validate technical feasibility and optimize CAPEX/OPEX.
• Lead end-to-end program management, including scope definition, RFQ development, vendor selection, budget oversight, schedule tracking, and rigorous FAT/SAT testing.
• Define and standardize fleet management, path optimization, and traffic control strategies for AGV/AMR systems to ensure robust and scalable automation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate automation with MES, WMS, and PLC-based control systems.
• Analyze operational performance data (OEE, throughput) to identify bottlenecks, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and enhance system reliability and uptime.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing, automation, or material handling engineering.
• Deep expertise in the design, integration, and commissioning of automated material handling systems (AGV, AMR, ASRS, conveyors, robotics).
• Strong proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Solid Works) and factory flow modeling software (Flex Sim or equivalent).
• Demonstrated history of leading complex automation projects from concept to full production readiness, including program management, budgeting, and vendor coordination.
• Solid understanding of controls integration (PLC/MES/WMS), industrial safety standards (ANSI/ISO/IEC), and Lean Manufacturing/PFEP principles.
