Core Duties and Responsibilities- Explains the test to the patient and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
- Maintains assigned work area and reports any equipment not in proper working condition.
- Produces high‑quality ultrasound scans according to protocols and physician orders in a timely manner.
- Assists Radiologists with patient procedures and participates in in‑service education in the department.
- Maintains records, prepares charge vouchers, and sends completed images to PACS.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- One (1) specialty certification through ARDMS:
Abdominal (AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN), Pediatric Sonography (PS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Breast, Musculoskeletal (MSK), or CPR certification. - One (1) year of sonographer experience.
- One (1) year ofographer experience.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Hearing (aid permitted); must be able to function without use of lip reading.
- Visual acuity (corrected); keen for both distant and near objects.
- Clinical environment.
- Possesses interpersonal skills to positively and effectively communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
- Cooperatively interacts with the health care team to support and contribute to the shared group goals.
