- Prepare equipment and room for transportation of patients.
- Assist with the transfer of patients using wheelchairs, carts, and beds to and from nursing units, ancillary testing, departments, clinic areas, and vehicles in a safe, courteous, and timely manner.
- Transport patients utilizing wheelchairs, carts, and beds to and from nursing units, ancillary testing departments, clinic areas, and vehicles in a safe, courteous, and timely manner.
- Transfer oxygen tanks from storage area to transport devices (wheelchairs, carts, bed).
- Provide scheduled services for Radiology, Fast Track, Emergency Department, and other areas as directed; never disconnect oxygen or monitoring equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of carts, wheelchairs, and work area with wipes provided.
- Attend CPR class annually for infants, children, and adults.
- Address problems that occur during the regular performance of duties with Director, Manager, or Nurses.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by Director.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development.
- Assess information relative to patient status and interpret this information to identify the age‑specific needs of each patient.
- Maintain an understanding of the range of treatment necessary for each patient and provide appropriate care based on their age‑specific needs.
- Provide professional, cooperative, and courteous service to patients, visitors, telephone callers, medical/dental staff, and fellow employees, while maintaining confidentiality of patient, employee, and hospital information at all times.
- Oxygen and monitoring equipment issues are addressed by the Nurses, never the transport staff.
- Perform proper tracking/logging in the directed computer systems and communicate pertinent patient information to technologists.
- Safeguard patients' rights and demonstrate respect for confidentiality, privacy, security, complaint resolution, spiritual counseling, and communication.
- Attend in‑services and other educational programs as required.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- CPR certification.
- Must be able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual acuity must be within normal ranges.
- Must be able to position, lift, and move patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance on a regular and recurring basis.
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing duties throughout the work shift.
- Exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps, and explosive gases.
- Exposure to ionizing and non‑ionizing radiation.
- Exposure to high stress and constant interruptions.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
- Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
- Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and perform under pressure.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and independent judgment.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
