Cafeteria Worker
Provides services related to staff and visitor food service, and patient food service including operating a computerized cash register; restocking food and non‑food items in the cafeteria and catering areas. Maintains clean and orderly appearance of the cafeteria; sets up and delivers catered functions.
Responsibilities- Operates the cash register accurately, completes all cash register reports and daily price adjustments, and performs closing procedures and balances cash banks.
- Orders and restocks food and non‑food items in cafeteria and catering areas.
- Maintains sanitation standards for cafeteria, catering, and storage areas according to department and hospital requirements. Follows appropriate cleaning schedules.
- Reports unusual incidents within the cafeteria and cash register problems to the supervisor.
- Attends in‑service education and department meetings, and adheres to hospital/department policies and procedures.
- Services the customer and employee with respect and courtesy; provides assistance within the cafeteria dining area and for catered functions.
- Handles food safely; monitors, records, and maintains proper temperature control of all food products.
- Operates all cafeteria equipment including grill and fryer and maintains an appropriate cleaning schedule for equipment.
- Follows appropriate procedures for setup, preparation, service of cafeteria foods, catering and catered functions. Assures food is of the appearance and quality desired for customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for completion of daily menu boards.
- Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
- Current county‑issued Food Handlers card or online card obtained through within 1 week of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Frequent standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work effectively in a noisy setting and under deadline pressures.
- Work area may be hot, cold, and/or wet.
- Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
- Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment.
- Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
