The Town of Wellesley’s Planning Department has an opening for a full‑time (35 hours per week) Preservation Planner. The Preservation Planner assists the Wellesley Historical Commission, Historic District Commission, and Denton Road Neighborhood Conservation District Commission by conducting studies of historic assets, preparing demolition review reports, providing architectural and planning analysis, staffing meetings, and administering commission processes. The position also supports the Planning Director, Planning Board, and Design Review Board with comprehensive planning, site plan review, design review, and related matters.
Reporting to the Planning Director, this role applies expertise in municipal planning, architectural history, and preservation practices. Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills are essential, as is attendance at evening meetings.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Historic Preservation, Planning, Architecture, Architectural History, or a related field, plus at least one year of experience in historic preservation, municipal planning, or a related field.
- Knowledge of preservation laws and review processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
$71,400 – $88,090, DOQ.
